Fields of Application

These optical power monitors are used for the measurement and monitoring of optical power from the UV to near IR.

The series of optical power monitors OPM150 is designed for use with photodiode-based detector heads and integrating spheres from Artifex Engineering to measure optical power. The amplifiers employ precision transimpedance input stages to provide for high common mode rejection and linearity throughout the full dynamic range.

These laser power meters are particularly suitable for OEM applications, in the laboratory or for field use such as laser servicing. The unit is USB powered: no external power supply is required. The optical power is sampled at up to 600samples/s using the graphical software supplied. The high sensitivity and large dynamic range allow measurement of a wide range of optical sources such as lasers and LEDs.

These compact optical power meters are insensitive to electromagnetic interference by design, an important factor when working in “dirty” industrial environments.

The laser measurement meter OPM150 may be controlled via the USB port using the graphical user interface software provided with the instrument. Alternatively, the amplifier may be controlled through direct commands via the USB interface (virtual COM-port). This mode of operation is particularly interesting for OEM applications.

The software development kit comprising the GUI source code, a Python library as well as a LabVIEW demo VI allows for easy integration.

A wide range of detector heads for free beam and fibre coupled measurement are available. These include large area photodiode heads as well as integrating spheres covering the range 250-2490nm and from 2nW up to 12kW.

The laser measuring instrument OPM200 employs high quality photodiodes and precision transimpedance input stages to provide for low offset and high linearity throughout the full dynamic range.
The optical power monitor OPM200 is designed for precise, high speed measurement of optical power in the µW to mW range. The output is a voltage linearly proportional to the input power.
The gain of the OPM200 is fixed. These optical power monitors (OPM) are particularly useful for the measurement of rapidly changing optical signals. These laser measurement meters have a particularly high bandwidth of 5MHz allowing monitoring of high frequency noise components of many light sources.
The fast response time at high signal-noise-ratio makes the OPM200 series particularly useful in systems control feedback loops.
The OPM200 series is insensitive to electromagnetic interference by design, an important factor when working in „dirty“ industrial environments. These optical light power meters are provided in OEM-style enclosures. The case wings provide for mounting on standard 25mm and 1“ optical table tops and for OEM applications

The OPM400 amplifier employs quality photodiodes and precision transimpedance input stages to prodie for low offset and high linearity throughout a wide dynamic range.
There are 16 gain ranges covering 5 decades of gain in a 1-2-5 pattern. The gain-to-gain accuracy of <1% allows confident measurements of power curves over the full range of sensitivity of the device: 6½ decades of measurement range. Thus even very demanding measurements such as the accurate and high speed, real-time determination of polarization extinction ratio becomes a simple task. The sturdy enclosure with mounting wings serves use in the lab as well as for OEM applications.
Functional control is via a DB25 hardwire interface for direct, sub µs control of all parameters. This feature is useful for OEM implementation in feedback loops such as fibre alignment applications.

The OPM500 is a versatile power monitor for use in the lab and for laser servicing as well as for OEM applications.

This laser measuring instrument can be delivered with an FC or SMA fibre input. Functional control is via the USB interface or via the DB25 hardwire interface for direct, sub µs control of all parameters. This feature is useful for OEM implementation in feedback loops such as fibre alignment applications.

Detectors are available covering 250-2490 nm depending on the photodiode material chosen. The graphical user interface is intuitive to use and easy to read! The software includes a scope function, data logging and a large, digital display – perfect for daily use in the lab or in the field. Further functions such as autogain and various storage formats are also included.
The OPM500 is small and is USB controlled. Not only the small size qualifies this instrument für OEM applications. It is very simple and flexible to integrate into your project.
The unit comes delivered with drivers for direct communication or to be used as a virtual COM-port. Furthermore, we provide a full software developement kit including the source code for the GUI application as well as a demo LabView-VI®.
